The Phyllis Rawlinson Park Tree Nursery is growing up! This fall we propagated more than 1,200 coniferous seeds. Volunteers and community groups helped plant the trees in our newly constructed wooden beds, which were build by Evergreen Youth Interns this past summer.
Thanks to all of our hardworking volunteers, we planted more than 3,800 saplings and harvested more than 100 coniferous trees since the start of the nursery program last fall. All 100 trees harvested were transplanted to various community parks in the Town of Richmond Hill. Community volunteers also helping out this year at our stewardship and planting events include members of the Student Environmental Council from Alexander Mackenzie high school and Toronto Chinese Ecological Living (TCEL).

Phyllis Rawlinson Park Tree Nursery is a joint project with the Town of Richmond Hill and Evergreen with the goal of maintaining the local integrity and genetic diversity of native plants we use at our restoration sites across the GTA. Our parks will hopefully be populated with these locally nursery trees.
